GREAT EASTERN INTERNATIONAL KIDS PERFORMING FESTIVAL
Making Singapore a world stage for the best young performing artists from around the world.
SINGAPORE, 6 May 2010 – With the aim of creating opportunities for young and aspiring talents to experience the arts and perform with talents from all over the world, Great Eastern and Precious Entertainment will hold the second Great Eastern International Kids Performing Festival (Great Eastern IKPF) from 29 May to 26 June 2010.
Festival Director Kuo Po shares: "With an effervescent and creative spirit, Great Eastern IKPF is dedicated to bringing quality performances to children and families. From concerts, to workshops, to camps, to full-length musicals, Great Eastern IKPF also aims to be a catalyst for discovery and growth towards excellence of young talents. Great Eastern IKPF Opening Ceremony at the ION Orchard (29 May 2010)
The Great Eastern IKPF will kick off on 29 May 2010 at ION Square, ION Orchard, with a grand carnival theme. Participants from Singapore and countries around the world will do the March of the Stars and captivate the audience with their performances, kicking off the Festival with pomp and pageantry.
HOPE Camp (1 – 5 June 2010) and HOPE Concert (5 – 6 June 2010)
A five-day fun-filled training camp will be held from 1 to 5 June 2010 for youths to connect with each other as they strive to excel in singing, dancing, and acting. HOPE campers perform in the HOPE Concert that takes place on 5 and 6 June 2010 at the brand new S$20 million Genexis Theatre. Together with the talents of Kids Performing™ Academy, Hope campers will raise funds for "Kids On Stage", a CSR programme by Kids Performing™ to benefit children from financially disadvantaged homes in the Performing Arts. Emperor's New Clothes, the Musical (17 – 20 June 2010)
Hans Christian Andersen's well-loved story - The Emperor's New Clothes premieres in Singapore from 17 to 20 June 2010 at Genexis Theatre. The second production of Kids Performing Repertory Theatre, the whole cast comprises young children aged between 5 and 16. They will be putting in more than 100 hours of rehearsals to bring this tale about honesty, integrity and courage to Singapore audiences. This musical has been "tweaked" to have an Asian twist, with the story set in imperial China. Theatre-goers will be treated to a taste of the old China at the Genexis Lounge even before they step into the theatre.
Great Eastern IKPF International Summer Camp (22 – 27 June 2010)
The Great Eastern IKPF international Summer Camp brings together the best trainers and programmes in the performing arts for expatriates and overseas students. Campers will sing, dance and act to their hearts' content and visit key performing arts venues like The Esplanade, Theatres On the Bay, School of the Arts, Yong Siew Toh Conservatory etc to get a glimpse of what Singapore has to offer to the world. Singapore Performing Arts Junior Championships / SPAJC (23 – 26 June 2010)
Talented youths aged between 7 and 19 from around the world will battle it out for the gold from 23 to 26 June 2010. The grand prize is USD 5000 and the SPAJC 2010 trophy. Other prizes include: "BEST OF SINGAPORE" AWARD (USD 3,000 + TROPHY), PROCON "TRIPLE THREAT" AWARD (USD 2,000 + TROPHY) sponsored by PROCON and the MOOVE RHYTHM AWARD (USD 2,000 + TROPHY) sponsored by Moove Media. Different categories from vocals, instrumentals, dancing, and acting are open for competition. The Grand Finals will be held at The Esplanade, Outdoor Theatre on 26 June 2010.
Prodigies of the World (24 June 2010)
A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness five of the World's Youngest and Greatest Musical Prodigies will be held on 24 June 2010 at 1pm in Yong Siew Toh Conservatory and 7pm at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore. Simone Porter, a 13-year old violinist from USA will play alongside a 7-year old Shuan Hern Lee, a pianist from Australia; Michael Province, a 14-year old violinist from USA/Canada; Nathan Chan, a 16-year old cellist; and Julia Abueva, a 14-year old vocalist from Singapore. These Prodigies have travelled around the world and have inspired millions of people with their music. They will perform first at a lunch-time recital at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory, followed by a performance at a Charity Gala Dinner at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia, to benefit the "Kids On Stage" (KOS) Project. KOS is a Corporate Social Responsibility outreach program by Kids Performing™ which supports children from financially disadvantaged homes by providing valuable performance training.
