Hope Camp (1 - 5 June 2010)

What an action-packed week! Amidst learning new songs, grooving to new dance steps, playing games, and rehearsing back to back for the HOPE Concert, the campers still had time to go swimming in the rooftop jacuzzi of their two-storey 3 bedroom maisonette at Fraser Place Robertson Walk, Singapore! The kids, for sure, were more than thrilled! Breakfast everyday on the terrace and a BBQ party in the evening made the camp extra special!

The "Glee Inspired" Camp was an all singing, all dancing and all acting 5 day performing arts training camp! The kids hip-hopped their new groove to "Baby Baby", made their own music video and sung their hearts out to "When you Believe" which was then presented at the opening ceremony of Marina Bay Sands! Based at the home of Kids Performing™ the campers acquired the skills and discipline of performing with a professional attitude and greater appreciation of the art form and this was clearly demonstrated as all Campers participated in the Kids Performing™ for HOPE CONCERT 2010!

Hope Concert (5 - 6 June 2010)

Every year, all the students of Kids Performing™ - Singapore's premiere performing arts schoo l- showcase what they have learned in the Hope Concert. These kids share their talents with other truly deserving children who cannot afford to attend performing arts school, as the Hope Concert will benefit the Kids On Stage scholarship program.

Ever since its inception in 2005, Kids Performing has stood by its mission, primarily, to impart essential life-skills to our students that will stand them in good stead throughout their lives with the help of the academy's promise to train, guide and develop a child's talent towards an immediate and realistic goal of performance before a live audience.

With a strong belief that every child has a potential talent within, Kids Performing™ was inspired to search for the best trainers and staff to offer varied genres in music, dance and theatre arts for children from 3 to 16 years old. So when it opened its doors, the school didn't just attract Chinese students, but also Malay and Indians, not only locals but also British, Americans, Filipinos and more. It has become a venue for different races to come together to do what they like most-to perform.

This year's Hope Concert was a major highlight of the Great Eastern Kids Performing Festival which ran from 29 May to 26 June 2010, and was shown at the newly built state-of-the-art Genexis Theatre at Fusionopolis on the 5th and 6th of June 2010.

Around 250 children filled this year's offering in a Glee-inspired revue of song and dance from stage and screen blockbusters, as well as current interpretations of pop, rock and R&B hits made popular by the Golden Globe award winning television show. Every performance brought back fond memories from children's favourite TV channels and the highest entertainment industry awards. It also featured the Popstar of the Year 2010 grand champion, Nadya Tan, the cast of Narnia the Musical (2009), and The Emperor's New Clothes (2010).

The variety show that spanned a century of performing arts culture attracted all audiences, young and old. We enjoined all the kids, parents and friends of Kids Performing™ to celebrate Hope with us–and got inspired!

Emperor's New Clothes (17 - 18 June 2010)

Crowd, both young and old gathered around the Ancient Chinese Temple to witness the showcasing of the Emperor's New Clothes. They expected to see vibrant colours and wonderful designs... to their surprised, all they saw was his royal boxer shorts! The Emperor was almost naked and he's been tricked!

Young cast members totaling to 33, aged 4 - 16 rehearsed religiously for four months at Popstars City. Week after week, the eager cast met and bonded and grew together as one happy ensemble. Long, tedious hours felt nothing when the curtains were raised at the newly built Genexis Theatre on the 19th & 20th of June 2010.

The production was so special not only because of the intensive coaching they have acquired from very experienced trainers in acting, singing, dancing and performing. A special visit from playwright, Dr. Edna Mae Landicho has elated the spirit of the cast with her inspiring word

The show was indeed and absolutely amazing! The kids were dressed in the most intricate and elaborate Chinese costumes. The Royal Family was donned with magnificent designs. The kids have exuded confidence and mastery of the material. They owned the stage. It was surely a production worth remembering. Hans Christian Andersen, The Emperor's New Clothes original playwright is definitely and positively proud of this Singaporean version of his well loved story!

The play's story about honesty, integrity and courage will continue to echo in the children's hearts and the audience's as well.

Kids from around the world came to Singapore to be part of the Summer Camp 2010! This international camp was all about singing, dancing, and acting! It was indeed a fantastic performing arts training camp conducted by our expert trainers!

The campers were prepared for a dazzling showcase where they performed their new repertoire; A head spinning, backflipping hip-hop dance, Glee song "Don't Stop Believing" , the Marina Bay Sands opening ceremony song "When you Believe" and two lucky campers showed off their singing talents by going solo!! And if that wasn’t enough…
